Haydar Strategy

Haydar Strategy

One strategy Haydar uses successfully in her article, “Veiled Intentions”, is her use of commonplaces. Haydar is able to level with her audience by taking what many perceive, when is comes to stereotypes, and exerting this to strengthen her argument. For instance, Haydar believes that many people think that Muslim girls are not into masculine things or activities. She proves this stereotype wrong by telling her audience that she is into skateboarding and heavy metal music. She uses this commonplace to her advantage to prove that there is more under the veil than many people may perceive.
